The Safe Haven Directors were very proud to turn the soil and officially announce the start of construction of our new Safe House for women escaping domestic abuse. We have worked tirelessly to get to this point. It will be a fantastic addition to our current services and will give women more time to be safe and secure. It will provide quality, longer-term shelter, support and resources for women who need a safe place to stay as they rebuild their lives after fleeing domestic abuse.
Safe Haven, and organisations like us, provide a crucial lifeline to women fleeing abusive relationships, and the new safe house will ensure even more women have access to the resources and support they need to stay safe and rebuild their lives.
The construction of the new Safe House is a significant step forward for Safe Haven and for women in South East Queensland who are affected by domestic violence. It's so amazing to get this project off the ground after so many years of planning with no government assistance, just hard work raising awareness and great Community support.
But there is still so much work to be done. Domestic abuse is an ongoing issue in Australia and organisations like Safe Haven need continued support to provide the resources and services that women need. We're already in the process of planning our next Safe House. That's why it's crucial for individuals, businesses and communities to come together and support organisations like Safe Haven.
Thank you again to all of our wonderful supporters who made this possible. Some very very special ones out there, you know who you are.
If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic abuse, please know that help is available. You can contact Safe Haven or other domestic violence organisations for assistance. Always call the Police on '000' if you are in immediate physical danger.
